Announcement of UK SPEAR WORKSHOP - University of Leicester - 8 April 2002

In view of the forthcoming operational phase of the SPEAR system (expected test operations April 2003), we propose to hold a short one-day workshop for the benefit of potential users in the UK community. The workshop will include:

  1. A restatement of science goals with short presentations by Terry Robinson (Overview and status), Ian McCrea(Joint ESR/SPEAR operations), Farideh Honary (High power experiments), Tim Yeoman (Artificial irregularity/CUTLASS experiments), Darren Wright(Coordinated ground/Satellite experiments in particular future SPEAR/CLUSTER links), Mark Lester (All-sky low power radar experiments).

  2. Update on technical specification and progress on construction and deployment (Chris Thomas).

  3. Data visualization-a first look(Nigel Wade)

  4. Open discussion - The idea here is to get feedback from the UK community on (i) what experiments future users might want to do with the system and (ii) on data visualization needs.

Please contact Patricia Bland (Group secretary at pbland@ion.le.ac.uk) and let her know if you are interested in attending. Accommodation can be arranged if necessary.
