CUTLASS data request

CUTLASS is a UK national facility providing data to UK scientists to support both space based and other ground based studies at high latitudes. Data is also available to scientist from contributing countries (Finland, Sweden and Iceland) and to others on a collaborative basis.

The CUTLASS radars form the eastern pair of the northern SuperDARN chain of radars the data from which provide instantaneous snapshots of electric fields extending over 12 hours of local time. CUTLASS data is contributed to, and received from, all the SuperDARN radars.

The form included below is intended to provide a method of requesting data. To ensure that the expertise in interpreting the often complex data available at Leicester is available to those requesting data, it is recommended that a collaborative arrangement is sought. The form provides an opportunity to request such collaborations. Note that summary plots of all CUTLASS data is available from within these Web pages. These plots are available within 6 hours of each 0-24 UT day.

All SuperDARN radars contribute key parameter data to the GGS CDHF. This key parameter data may be accessed on line by selecting this link under ground based invetigations.

Note that requests for specific experimental modes to be run on the CUTLASS or SuperDARN systems should be addressed to the CUTLASS PI, Dr. Mark Lester mle@ion.le.ac.uk
